The Honor Magic V6 is a camera phone that doesn't reinvent the wheel, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. In my opinion, the fact that it sticks to a well-proven formula is a testament to its reliability and consistency. The camera system is a triple setup with two 50MP units for wide and ultrawide modules, and a 64MP 3x telephoto camera. This is a familiar configuration, but it works well, and the numbers are all the same as last year's model, which is a good sign. The Magic V6's main camera does a great job in daytime, capturing very good photos with plenty of pop, wide dynamic range, and great contrast. The facial detail is rendered well, and the skin tones are lively and life-like. The Portrait mode's default blur level is believable and subject detection is pretty excellent. However, the full-res mode is hard to recommend, as there isn't any more detail in these shots than in the regular ones. The 2x zoom photos, on the other hand, are sharp and nicely detailed, with both straight lines and random textures looking great. The telephoto camera will get you excellent 3x zoom shots that are packed with detail, and the ultrawide camera is pretty great too, particularly in well-lit outdoor situations. In low-light conditions, the Magic's main camera does pretty well, but it's not exactly industry-leading performance. Shadows can be a little softer and noisier than ideal, but detail is generally great. The telephoto camera's 3x photos are similarly great, with some relatively minor imperfections. The ultrawide photos can also be a little gloomy in the darker scenes, but colors are looking good overall. The Magic V6 is quite possibly the best stills camera in the large foldable space right now, and its video recording results are a touch less exciting, but it's hardly a dud as a camcorder. 4K60 is available at all zoom levels on the back, in HDR too if you'd like, and the decently capable Pro mode allows for Log recording. Daytime clips are a touch too contrasty, but pretty good overall, and the low-light results of the main camera and the telephoto are solid too. Stabilization is pretty great, so long as you're more careful with your panning technique. Personally, I think the Magic V6 is a reliable and consistent camera phone that doesn't reinvent the wheel, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
