A Fierce Battle: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Dana White's Zuffa Boxing
The gloves are off, and the boxing world is buzzing with controversy!
When Dana White, the UFC CEO, took a jab at Oscar De La Hoya, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, everyone anticipated a fiery response. And boy, did De La Hoya deliver!
In a classic De La Hoya style, the 53-year-old legend took to Instagram with his signature Clapback Thursday segment, tearing into White and his boxing venture, Zuffa Boxing. De La Hoya didn't hold back, calling it a "failed science project" and claiming it's already a disaster.
"It's mind-boggling to see someone so convinced of their success while actually achieving nothing. Zuffa Boxing is a prime example of a failed experiment... They're basically putting on small-scale shows in the shadows of the UFC, with a mere 50 people in attendance."
But here's where it gets controversial... De La Hoya and Eddie Hearn, another prominent boxing promoter, criticized the newly unveiled Zuffa Boxing World Championship belt. Hearn called it an insult to boxing's rich history, and De La Hoya went a step further, branding it a "made-up belt."
"Don't get me started on this fake championship. They've invented a belt and expect us to believe it has historical value. My Tom Ford belt, a symbol of fashion and success, has more significance. Even Eddie Hearn's heirloom leather belt, passed down through generations, carries more weight. And Dana White, or should I say Uncle Fester, had the audacity to mock Eddie for building on his father's legacy at Matchroom?"
De La Hoya continued, "Fester, time to wake up. You're living off your daddies' money. The Fertittas funded the UFC, and now Turki is funding Zuffa Boxing. You didn't invest your own cash because you lack faith in it, but you jumped on the Power Slap bandwagon."
The feud between De La Hoya and White shows no signs of cooling down. White, riding the wave of Zuffa Boxing 03's success, called his rivals "babies" and even went as far as calling De La Hoya "mentally ill."
"All the talk from De La Hoya, we all know he's mentally unstable. He's all talk, and his business is in foreclosure. He's suing his own fighters to keep them with him. Has he done a Clapback Thursday recently? I'd love to see Oscar De La Hoya's take on this Thursday."
And true to form, De La Hoya's latest tirade was aimed squarely at White. This ongoing battle between these two boxing giants is a tale of egos, pride, and the future of the sport.
